South America has two extraordinary waterfalls, Iguacu Falls (left) and Angel Falls (right). Iguacu Falls is located between Argentina and Brazil. Iguacu Falls is nearly two miles wide, making it one of the widest waterfalls in the world. Angel Falls is located in Venezuela. Amazon River        The Andes is the longest mountain range in the world. The Andes extends along the west coast of South America, over 4,000 miles. At 22,835 feet, Aconcagua in the Andes is the highest peak in the Western Hemisphere. Some of the peaks in the Andes are active volcanoes. Glaciers cover the higher areas of elevation in the Andes, even near the Equator.
 
One of the most popular sports in South America is soccer. In fact, South America has some of the best soccer players in the world. Teams from Uruguay, Brazil, and Argentina have won half of the World Cup Championships since the championships began.      Soccer
