Northern European Plain        The Caspian Sea is the largest lake in the world. Located between Europe and Asia, this salt lake covers an area of more than 143,000 square miles, slightly smaller than Montana. However, the Caspian Sea has been shrinking in size because of evaporation and irrigation. Many people from neighboring European and Asian countries use the lake for fishing, oil production, and recreation.

Russia is the world's largest country in area. Russia extends from Eastern Europe, across Asia, to the Pacific Ocean. The citizens of Russia continue to adjust to democracy and capitalism after almost 75 years of Communist rule.
