Manufacturing is a large and profitable part of Asia's economy. Countries in South and Southeast Asia, such China, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia, and India are major manufacturing centers. Products made in these countries include cars, electronic equipment, machinery, ships, and textiles (cloth).     
 
Middle East        The Himalayas are the highest mountains in the world. The Himalayas are made up of several parallel ranges that separate northern India from the Plateau of Tibet. Mount Everest, the tallest mountain in the world at 29,035 feet, is part of this range. Although the higher peaks have a brutally cold climate, people are able to farm areas in the lower slopes.
 
The Ganges River is considered by many to be one of the most sacred places in the world. Thousands of followers of Hinduism - the most widely practiced religion in India - visit the river each year to bathe in it and take some of its water. The river travels from its source in the Himalayas through a densely populated and fertile valley to its delta in Bangladesh. Unfortunately, the water has become extremely polluted over the years.      Natural Resources
